Description

Eleven institutions (9 from the U.S. plus the University of Derby in the UK and Monash University from Australia) make up the original core steering committee and co-PIs of this alliance and for the project. Additional institutions are welcome to participate in the online, multi-institute course and dialogues leading up to and during the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change annual COP meetings. Educational modules and other resources from the website are also freely available.

Students have formed inter-institution research teams focused on the SDGs (a local to global approach) and disseminated their findings at the COPs and via virtual conferences. At COP27 in Egypt, the YEAH participants partnered with the Smithsonian Institution and the U.S. State Department to develop educational displays at the U.S. Pavilion.

The originally proposed virtual component of this RCN was key in keeping the alliance together and active during Covid. Highly dedicated and passionate faculty with deep collective experience working with the United Nations have also been important in achieving the goals of this project.
