Description

The resources associated with this task include:

1. Train Video

2. Student Handout for use with LoggerPro

3. The data set collected from the video in an excel file.

Students are asked to watch the video of the train and consider the vertical and horizontal position of the train as it moves along the track. Then students are asked to use their knowledge of transformations of functions to create models for each of those. Students can then pose their own questions and answer those questions using their models. The data was collected by superimposing a set of axes centered at the center of the track and marking the red mark at the top of the engine. The data is provided in an excel file so that students can complete the task even if they do not have access to LoggerPro.

Notes

Version 1 - Student Handout will need changes if students do not have access to LoggerPro
