Notes
This module was adapted from the original TIEE module (Exploring the population dynamics of wintering bald eagles through long-term data) to emphasize nonlinear modeling, data scaling, interpreting fitted parameters, and analysis in R. In particular, I developed a packet for the exercise that included background from the original TIEE module, warm-up questions, and questions associated with the modeling exercise that guided students through the data exploration and analysis, required them to make inference on their model output, and guided exploration of the implications of their findings. I also developed an R script to accompany the exercise that provided a template for students to organize data, fit the model, and visualize the output.
