Under a student perspective that has never worked in depth with chi square before, the PowerPoint slides were very informational.  They clearly explained an overview of the purpose for using chi square: to determine if the observed data compares significantly with the expected data.  The story component allows an easy follow through the step-by-step outline of the example.  It also provided an open answer question and an online chi square calculator link, which was a great feature for future uses.  I completed the end problem to see if I had obtained enough knowledge from the previous slides to partake it on my own.  From my experience, the steps provided had given me enough information to complete the question given.  This PowerPoint is designed for beginning level entry into the subject.  It does not go into great extent and the examples are of basic concepts.

Summary: Overall an entertaining and well-explained Chi-Square tutorial.

Pros: Questions are posed in the context of a discussion between two students. This makes it very easy to relate to and well likely get students more engaged and invested in finding out the answer. Great use of pictures to keep the presentation interesting and fun to look at.

Cons: It was very short and walked the students through only one example. This is not necessarily a negative point though. It depends whether you need an in-depth explanation, or short and sweet.

I am reviewing this presentation as a biology student, and I will be focusing on the software that was recommended within the lesson. The software is called GraphPad, a site containing various tool for performing statistical analysis. Specifically, this lesson sends students to the online Chi-Squared Calculator, the link takes them directly there. Students then enter observed and expected values. A chi-squared value is calculated and provided to students with an explanation. There are various links for further explanation and examples.

As a tool, I find GraphPad to be useful, as it does not just generate a number, but also provides an explanation and describes what the P value is telling the student in different situations. The link takes students to the data entry point, but I feel there is value in students choosing the Category and Calculator themselves to better understand what kind of data they are working with.
