Latinx in the Mathematical Sciences Conference - March UCLA

Latinx in the Mathematical Sciences Conference
March 8-10, 2018 @ UCLA

About: On March 8-10, 2018, the Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IPAM) will host a conference showcasing the achievements of Latinx in the mathematical sciences. The goal of the conference is to encourage Latinx to pursue careers in the mathematical sciences, to promote the advancement of Latinx currently in the discipline, to showcase research being conducted by Latinx at the forefront of their fields, and, finally, to build a community around shared academic interests. The conference is sponsored by the Mathematical Sciences Institutes Diversity Initiative and will be held on the UCLA campus in Los Angeles, CA. You can read more about this conference at: http://www.ipam.ucla.edu/lat2018

Application: The application is for out-of-town students and recent PhDs who wish to request IPAM support for housing and/or travel, as well as those who want to present a poster at the conference. Please answer every question on the application form, and submit all supporting documents by the due date. (We request one letter of recommendation for applicants requesting support.) The deadline to apply is 11:59 pm *Eastern* Time on January 15, 2018. To apply, go to: https://www.mathprograms.org/db/programs/591

Registration: For those who wish to simply register (rather than apply), please use this form. Once you submit the registration form, you will be directed to a payment page. Your registration is complete once you pay the registration fee. Please note that registration is required to attend the conference.

IPAM @ JMM: If you are attending the 2018 Joint Math Meetings (JMM), we encourage you to stop by the Mathematics Institutes' Open House on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 in San Diego. The reception will take place in the San Diego Ballroom B of the San Diego Marriott Hotel and Marina between 5:30 pm and 8:00 pm. IPAM and other math institutes will have informational materials available on upcoming programs and funding opportunities. Check out the JMM schedule for specific times and locations.

If you have any questions, please contact us at lat2018@ipam.ucla.edu.

We look forward to your participation in March!
