I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology, and the Department of Microbiology and Plant Biology where I just finished my tenth year! I am also Associate Director for Education at the Kessler Atmospheric and Ecological Field Station. Prior to joining the University of Oklahoma, I was Associate Professor and Chair of the Biology Department at Agnes Scott College.
I have taught intro biology more times than I can remember (I think I am at 58 times), but I still love it. I have also taught field courses at the University of Colorado Mountain Research Station, the Highlands Biological Station, The Joseph W. Jones Ecological Research Center at Ichauway, and KAEFS. I have served as Chair and Program Director of the BSA Teaching Section and am currently Chair of the Education Committee.
I am currently working to develop integrative approaches that synthesize active learning activities among homework, lecture, and lab. This includes lab exercises, case studies, and videos.
