The following post is written by Greg Wiggins, the Education and Outreach Coordinator at the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis (NIMBioS).

Are you an undergraduate student or advisor of an undergraduate student that has conducted research using mathematics to interpret or model biological phenomena? If so, then the 9th Annual Undergraduate Research Conference at the Interface of Biology and Mathematics is the place to present your research!  This Conference is hosted by the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis and brings together students and advisors from across the U.S. to highlight their research findings, interact with scientific peers, and hear talks from featured speakers at the forefront of mathematical-biological research.

One student characterized the Conference this way: “Bringing together student researchers from all over the country gave me the opportunity to learn about their experiences and possible career plans. It was great to see how they have a similar academic situation as I do and talk to them about their future plans. The advice and experiences of all the other student researchers was very valuable and will serve me well as I finalize my future academic plans.” One additional aspect of the Conference that past students have found beneficial is the Career Panel, where students are free to interact with a panel of professionals to learn of graduate school and career options. Faculty are welcomed to attend and can benefit from this conference by building relationships and collaborations through interactions with other faculty and students working at the interface of biological and mathematical research.
