Description

The Animal Diversity Web (animaldiversity.org) is a structured online natural history database that permits flexible hypothesis testing of the data it holds using a query tool: Quaardvark. Students can ask and answer questions using real data and the variety of queries is virtually limitless. In collaboration with faculty who use this tool in classrooms, we have curated a library of activities that can be readily incorporated into a wide variety of classrooms, from introductory biology to advanced "ologies," ecology, behavior, and conservation. We will demonstrate the flexibility and power of this tool to empower student-led exploration.
