Description
The Got Milk? working group includes professors from Penn State and Michigan State that forged this unlikely alliance through the 2021 Biome Institute. Our group is interested in working towards developing a humane genetics' curriculum through the use of teaching the evolution of lactase persistence in introductory biology courses. Through updating the Evo-Ed lactase persistence case study and developing slide sets that can be used by instructors, we will be focusing on the use of language and images used, better representing the multiple mutations that result in lactase persistence, directly addressing common student misconceptions, and fostering greater student engagement by encouraging them to find personal relevance in the topic.
