Description
In this laboratory exercise, you will investigate changes in transpiration due to species variation and environment. Several varieties of tomato are grown from seed within a common garden environment. Stomatal density is estimated for each of these varieties. Tomato plants are then subjected to student-driven experimental treatments that test hypotheses about transpiration related to tomato variety and treatments. Food security and crop transpiration are discussed.
Notes
This version departs substantially from the initial lab in that rather than testing C3 vs C4 differences, variation in transpiration among tomato varieties is tested. This was done as an extension of previous labs in which vitamin C content and germination rates of the same tomato varieties was documented. I've included these other labs as links in the main google document (these have not been checked for copyright infringement however).
