Description

This exercise was helpful in training students to become comfortable using Excel as a computational tool. I asked before we started for a self-assessment about their comfort level with Excel. On a scale of one-to-ten, the mean was 1.72 at the start of the quarter for 30+ students. Having the prepared Excel files helped to keep things organized. Later on in the quarter we used other Excel files and online ET calculators to take these concepts to the redwood forest. By the end of the quarter the Excel comfort score was 5 - 7.
