Abstract

The goal of this tool is to provide an adorable environment for students to learn some basic skills in experimental design, data collection, and statistical analysis. Students learn from our master Catistician Dr. WPJ how to collect data from a cute cat video to answer the question "Is Dr. WPJ left- or right- handed"? They then use our handy web app to visualize and analzye the data they collected using a binomial test. Our hope is that Cats Teach Stats tools make statistics and data analysis feel warm and fuzzy rather than anxiety-inducing to combat the stress that many students experience around mathematical subjects.
