Biography
I teach at Linn-Benton Community College, which is a 2-year college on the quarter system 10 miles away from Oregon State University. Many of our students have dual enrollment with both institutions.
I’ve been teaching mathematics in higher education since 1990, so well over 30 years, and typically teach algebra, trigonometry, differential calculus, integral calculus, and statistics. I have co-authored two textbooks, one geared for college geometry, and one for quantitative literacy as well as several manuals.
Every year I attend the national and state math conferences for two-year colleges, AMATYC and ORMATYC. Over the past year I have been participating in workshops involving simulation-based statistics with the goal of transforming statistics classes to incorporate simulation and project-based learning.
For BIOME I am hoping to join a group focused on creating activities that cross academic disciplines or any group involved in learning innovation, AI, active learning, equity and inclusion, and project-based education.
