Natural History Collections and Digital Biodiversity Data: Challenges and Emerging Opportunities

The Biodiversity Collections Network (BCoN) will host a webinar on September 19, 2018 from 2:00 - 3:00 PM EST to explore how challenges and opportunities for formal and informal education that are arising as an outcome of efforts to digitize specimen and occurrence-based data. BCoN is an NSF-funded Research Coordination Network grant to the American Institute of Biological Sciences. BCoN is an NSF-funded Research Coordination Network grant to AIBS. Founding organizations are the NSC Alliance, iDigBio, and SPNHC.

About the author

Elia Crisucci

Elia Crisucci earned her Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh studying the role of histone modifications and chromatin structure in the regulation of eukaryotic transcription. Having a passion for science education, she completed a Teaching Minor certificate during graduate school and went on to become a course coordinator for the large-enrollment introductory biology lab courses at the University of Pittsburgh. She joined the QUBES team in October 2017, where she worked with Partner Projects to help them get the most out of the QUBES infrastructure. She is currently enjoying a career pause during which she is focusing on her family and planning the next stage of her career.
