We will present our experiences doing undergraduate research in the area of parallel computing and distributed systems on a multidisciplinary environment with STEM students. We show that community college students can also do basic research that can be published at well-known computer science and engineering conferences. We are currently doing research in the areas of networking, computer security, bioinformatics, DNA analysis, computational biology, digital image processing, computational science, etc.
