• Biography

  I am a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) for Biology and have been at the University of Manchester (UK) since 2007. My original background is in Biochemistry; my teaching now also spans plant physiology and the biology of biotic interactions. Since 2016 I have been programme director for the Biology degree programme. My main project for the coming years is to build data literacy- accessing, processing, analysing and interpreting data critically - for our biology students, shifting away from a focus on knowledge of facts.
  
  I am also interested in teaching with case studies and have published two with the former NCCSTS/ now NSTA collection.
