Biography
I am an Assistant Professor at California State University East Bay. My research focuses on uncovering novel developmentally regulated genes involved in Toxoplasma differentiation and virulence. I obtained my B.S. in Biological Sciences (Summa Cum Laude) from Georgia State University and attended graduate school at Washington University in St. Louis in the Department of Biomedical and Biological Sciences. After earning my doctoral degree with a focus on Molecular Microbiology and Microbial Pathogenesis, I joined the laboratory of Dr. John Boothroyd at Stanford University as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Microbiology and Immunology. I had the opportunity to advise a diverse group of undergraduate students on important aspects of preparing a strong application package for graduate programs, especially in the biosciences.
