Registration

This in an invitation-only event.  Invited applicants, please Register by Sept 12th to facilitate travel and event planning.

 

Reimbursement

To be reimbursed for your travel expenses, please forward detailed receipts to us at mdiamond@bates.edu. 

Please note: as per NSF policy we are not permitted to reimburse for alcohol purchases.  

 

Airports

Please forward the receipt for your flights to us at mdiamond@bates.edu to facilitate your reimbursement.  We are able to reimburse flights up to $500.  If your flight will cost more than that, please contact us before purchasing.

Please note: as per NSF policy, we are only able to reimburse basic economy airfare.  We are not permitted to reimburse costs associated with traveler's insurance, seat upgrades, in-flight alcohol purchases, etc.  

 

Two airports serve our area:

Portland International Jetport (PWM) - approx. 45 min drive

Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) - approx. 2.5 hours drive

 

Ground Transportation

Bus service to/from Lewiston is provided by:

• Concord Coach Lines - Departs from Bates and goes to the Portland Transportation Center & Boston. From the Transportation Center you can either take a taxi/Uber to the Portland Jetport for $8-12 or you can take the Portland METRO bus #5 to the Maine Mall via the Portland Jetport.  To get to the bus stop, walk 0.3 miles (head North on Seawall and then cross to the other side Congress St.) and the bus stop is located at Congress St and Whitney St. The bus leaves Bates daily at 9:00 AM & 3:30 PM. Additional departure times of 4:30 AM & 1:00 PM available around Thanksgiving, Winter Break, February Break, and April Break. Student discount of $5 off a round trip.

• Greyhound Bus Lines

  Departs from the Portland Bus Station (requires an $8-12 Uber/Taxi from the Jetport to the bus station) and arrives in downtown Lewiston.  Departing from Bates daily at 7:00 AM and 1:20 PM from directly in front of Chase Hall on the Bates Campus. From the Portland drop-off location, take an $8-12 Uber/Taxi to the Jetport.

Car Rentals - The Portland Jetport is served by several national car rental brands, including Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, and National.

 

We will coordinate local transport from the hotel to Bates campus on a daily basis.

 

Lodging - Hampton Inn, Lewiston, ME

We have reserved a block of rooms at the Hampton Inn in downtown Lewiston, ME.  To guarantee a room and the discounted block rate, please complete the registration form by September 10th.  We will use the information you provide to reserve a room for you.
